Jack Yoast, 80, of Kiowa, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at a local nursing home.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Kiowa with the Rev. Dennis R. Piearcy officiating. Burial will be at Wardville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born July 14, 1930, in Wardville, he was the son of William Franklin and Maggie (Francis) Yoast. He grew up and attended school in Wardville. He received his GED in New Mexico.
He enjoyed needlepoint, making felt pictures, working puzzles and visiting with family.
He married Nora Trujillo on Oct. 17, 1953, in Albuquerque, N.M. He worked as a carpenter in Albuquerque and in 1972, he moved his family back home to Kiowa where he continued his trade as a carpenter.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kiowa.
Survivors include his wife Nora, of the home; sons, Robert Yoast, of Savanna, and Billy Yoast and wife, Teresa, Henderson, Nev.; daughters, Charlotte Yoast, of Blanchard, and Mary Johnston and husband, Jimmy, of Kiowa.
Also, brother, Charlie Yoast and wife, Alcarita, of McAlester; sister, Opal Smith, of Kiowa; sisters-in-law, Mary Tschapatt and Esther Miller, both of California, and Margaret Lupercio of Nevada.
And, nine grandchildren, Christina Parsons and husband, Greg, of Oklahoma City, Jennifer Hinz and husband, Shane, of Moore, Thomas Johnston and wife, Rachel, of Ada, Daniel, Anna, Gabe and Emily Yoast, Henderson, Crystal Suter and husband, Dusty, of Kiowa, and Dawn Decker, Kingston, N.Y.
And, great-grandchildren, Natalie and Sarah Parsons, and Presley Suter and Shelby Decker; special nephew, Rodney Yoast, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maggie Yoast; sister, Marie McClendon; brothers, Frank, J.B. and Giles Yoast; son-in-law, Chester Crone; daughter-in-law, Sandra Yoast, and father and mother-in-law, Joe and Mary Trujillo.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Johnston, Shane Hinz, Greg Parsons, J.R. Yoast, Michael Yoast and Thomas Yoast.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leon McClendon, Ralph McClendon, Pete Hatridge, Kenneth Battles and MA. Danley.
