McALESTER — Leslea Jean (Wasson) Slater, 64, of Wilburton, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home.

A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Church led by Father Josh Litwack.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. Josh Litwack. Interment will follow at the Veterans Colony Cemetery in Wilburton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Harkins Funeral Home, Wilburton.

She was born March 16, 1948, to Sherman Eugene and Audrey (Christensen) Wasson in Tulsa. She graduated from Pernell High School with the class of 1966. She married Bud Slater on April 28, 1966. She was a homemaker raising her four boys until 1990 when she began working for Latimer State Bank as a teller. She was currently employed at Wilburton State Bank as Head Teller. She enjoyed cooking, reading and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

She is survived by her sons, David Slater and wife, Heather, of Poteau, Chris Slater and wife, Aracely, of Olathe, Kan., Scott Slater and wife, Lori, of McAlester, and Jerry Slater and wife, Stacey, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Aaron, Mike, Rebecca, Aubree, Destiny, Paige, Autumn, John Blake, Brandon, Keaton, Clayton and Brooklyn; sisters, Sherri Cantwell and husband, Wayne, of Elmore City, Christi Conner and husband, Terry, of Edmond and Lisa Williams and husband, David, of Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Didlott, Cory Bass, Keaton Slater, Clayton Slater, Aaron Slater, John Blake Slater, Aaron Vrbenec and Jarrod Calhoun.
