McALESTER — Joe S. McEuen, 71, of Norman, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, of a heart attack.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at New Covenant Christian Church in Oklahoma City with Tim Pool officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home of Chickasha.

Born March 23, 1941, in McAlester, he was the son of Archie McEuen and Joe Anna (Sterling) McEuen. He grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1959. He then attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lu, on April 9, 1960, in Sherman, Texas.

He liked everyone he met, and loved his family and friends. He had a very special relationship with his business partners and he loved to work. He started a number of successful businesses, including Sterling Pipe and Supply Company.

He visited China many times, including a visit as part of the Oklahoma Governor’s International Team.

He was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the University of Oklahoma College of Engineering Board of Visitors.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lu; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Jr. and Mary Beth McEuen, of St. Louis, Mo., and Paul McEuen and Susan Wiser, of Ithaca, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Joe McEuen III, Tena Frank and husband, Matt, and Missy Wohldmann and husband, Andy, all of St. Louis.

Also, great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Hannah, Luke Joseph and Alix; vspecial friends, Bobby and Jacklynn Haynes; numerous nieces, nephews and special cousins, especially, Theta, and his stepmother, Margaret, and her sons, David, Lonnie and Dennis and their families.

He was preceded in death by both parents and five brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes or to New Covenant Christian Church.
