Doris L. (Kennedy) Nichols, 84, of Kiowa

McALESTER — Doris L. (Kennedy) Nichols, 84, of Kiowa, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her home.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Kiowa with the Revs. Don Russell and Dennis Piearcy officiating. Burial will be at Kiowa Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born May 19, 1928, in Wellington, Texas, she was the daughter of Robert William and Myrtle Lee (Crossland) Kennedy. She married Bobby J. Nichols on Sept. 8, 1945, in Yuma, Ariz. They moved to Oklahoma in 1962.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby J. Nichols, of the home; son, James W. Nichols and wife, Barbara, of Kiowa; and grandson, Kelly James Nichols and wife, Beth, Lacey Wash.

Also, great-granddaughters, Kaylee Nichols and Riley Nichols, both of Lacey; brothers-in-law, Willard D. Nichols, of McAlester, Donald D. Nichols and wife, Imogene, of McAlester, and Sherman Nichols and wife, Doka, of Kiowa.

And, nephew, Ralph Sullivan, of Pittsburg; sisters-in-law, Georgia Ann Nichols, of Eufaula, Mary Doyle, of Mustang, Jeannine Nichols, of Kingfisher, and Beverly Nichols, Arlene Nichols and Carlene Nichols, all of Pittsburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Myrtle Kennedy, and twin brothers, Bill and Bob Kennedy.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Gary Don Nichols, Randy Nichols, Stephen Nichols, Jim Sullivan, Joe Sullivan, Chris Nichols and Johnnie Burrows.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Ray, Kenneth Battles, Herb Cox and Buzz Henry.
