McALESTER —
Shannon Lee (Stockton) Tolbert, 65, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, in McKinney, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Tom Murray of the First Presbyterian Church of McAlester officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Dickey West Funeral Home of Plano, Texas.
She was born April 19, 1947, in Houston, to LCDR Ralph Stockton USN and Thelma Stockton. She moved to McAlester with her parents and sister in January of 1955.
She graduated from McAlester High School in the class of 1965. She graduated from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton in 1967 where she was a member of Angel Flight. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant in 1969. She taught school as a elementary teacher and married Gary Tolbert on July 24, 1971, in McAlester. She later worked and retired from EDS in Plano, Texas. She spent the last several years caring for her family, home and dogs.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Tolbert, of the home; son, Christopher, of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Leslie Tolbert, of Plano, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Jerry Grubbs, of McAlester; nephew and wife, Ross and Melanie Grubbs, of Fort Worth, Texas, and several other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ralph and Thelma Stockton; in-laws, Vern and Irene Tolbert, and a very special cousin, Don Boyer, of Dallas.
