McALESTER — Loyd Earl Welch, 75, of McAlester, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Crowson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born July 29, 1937, in Cabiness, he was the son of Earl Henry Welch and Delphia Ailene (Kelley) Welch Maddox. He graduated from Stuart High School with the Class of 1955. After graduation, he moved to Lone Pine, Calif., where he met and later married Mary Susan Carey on March 22, 1957. He retired from a career as a long-haul truck driver.

He enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, motorcycling, boating, water skiing and gardening. He also enjoyed repairing and fixing things around the house. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Welch, of the home; daughter, Susan Wyrick and her husband, Vernon, of Chickasha; son, Michael Welch and his wife, Denise, Skagway, Alaska.

Also, seven grandchildren, Krissa Wilcox and Jon, Conway, Ark., Jasper Welch and Tammra, of Chickasha, Christopher Wyrick, of Chickasha, Jagger Wyrick, of Chickasha, Jacob Welch, of Chickasha, Samantha Welch, Skagway, Alaska, and Sarah Welch, of Chickasha.

And, six great-grandchildren, Jassman Wilcox, Conway, Ark., Stephanie Wilcox, Conway, Jacob Wilcox, Conway, Mikayla Pearman, of Chickasha, Saydi Pearman, Conway, and Farriah Wyrick, of Chickasha.

And, two sisters, Freda Glidden, Fort Smith, Ark., and June Maddox, of Tulsa; two brothers, John Welch and wife, Carolyn, Sugar Loaf, Ark., and Don Welch and wife, Betty, Streetman, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a special uncle, Junior Kelley, of McAlester.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, R.B. and Maude Welch; maternal grandparents, John and Ethal Kelley; father, Earl Welch; mother,  Delphia Maddox; sister, Reta (Welch) Weaver; a brother, Leonard Welch, and a son, Richard Welch.
