Clyde Stipe

McALESTER — Clyde Stipe, 83, died Friday, July 6, 2012 in McAlester.

Family will receive visitors Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester, officiated by the Rev. Richard Falling and Ron Cunningham. Intermet will follow at the Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of the Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Born Jan. 13, 1929, in Blanco, he was the son of to J.I. and Eva (Cable) Stipe. He was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma.

He served in the United States Navy and later received his juris doctorate degree from Oklahoma City University and practiced law for more than 50 years. He was active in raising cattle and thoroughbred race horses. He married Bobbye Cunningham on Aug. 23, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, VFW, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Elks Lodge. He was a former board member of the Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association and had served on the board of the McAlester Youth Shelter.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Stipe of the home; children, Joan Pyron, of Edmond, Gregory Stipe and Lisa, of Moore, Phillip Stipe and Kathy, of McAlester, Marilyn Kinyon, of McAlester, Jeri Hall and Jess, of Corona, Calif., Dennis Throgmorton and Karrie, of Muskogee, and Lisa Mullins, of Muskogee; brother, Gene Stipe and Mary, of McAlester; sisters, Mary Lou Faling and Richard, of Forney, Texas, and Pauline Cates, of Haywood; grandchildren, Jennifer Pyron, Carolyn Stipe, Melissa Stipe, James Stipe, Joseph Kinyon, Joseph Guziejka, Jessica Guziejka, Jacqueline Hall, Samuel Mullins and Rachel Throgmorton. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Stipe; granddaughter, Nicole Pyron; brothers, Jack Stipe, Francis Stipe and Claude Stipe; sister, Marie Gold; two infant siblings; and brothers-in-law, Freddie Gold, John Cates and Tom Webb.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Harper, Tim Maxcey, Russell Uselton, Joe Gold, Wayne Stipe and Rick Faling.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Pittsburg County Bar Association.
