Norma Jean Hamilton

McALESTER — Norma Jean Hamilton, 68, of McAlester, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, in Tulsa.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Gospel Assembly Church, McAlester.

Born in Wilburton, on March 1, 1944, she was the daughter of Floyd and Edna (Handcock) Skaggs.

She graduated from Bakersfield High School in California.

She worked in Arizona in hotel management and retail management.

She married Leonard Frank “Frankie” Hamilton, Sr. in Bullhead City, Ariz. in 1985.

She retired in 2007, but continued gardening and doing yard sales. She enjoyed her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church of McAlester.

She is survived by her husband, Frankie, of the home; sons, Charles Gene Smith of Wilburton, Norman Edward Smith and wife, Robin, of McAlester, David Anthony Smith and wife, Teresa, of Arpelar, and Darrell Wayne Uselton, of Texas; one daughter, Brenda Pauline Sumpter and husband, Dean, of McAlester; one sister, Opal Mitchell and husband, Roy, of Stilwell; one sister-in-law, Pauline Skaggs of Mena, Ariz.; first-husband, Charles Smith, of Fort Smith, Ark.; and, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
