McALESTER — Ghyta (Bond) Abrams

Ghyta (Bond) Abrams, 87, of McAlester, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church of McAlester, officiated by Dr. Charles Neff and the Rev. Chris Symes.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester.

Funeral services are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

She was the only child of Tillie Jane (Clifton) Oliver and John Oliver.

She attended school at Antlers and Scipio and she finished high school at Indianola.

After graduating in the class of 1944, she married Leon “Abe” Abrams.

She was a homemaker while raising her son, she later graduated from beauty college.

She worked as a hair dresser for 15 years and then worked as a sales associate for J.C. Penny until her retirement in 1996.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, formerly Grand Avenue, where she was active in the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

She also was a member of Savanna Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 349, and previously held the position of Worthy Matron and other chairs.

She also was a member of the Priscilla Club, the Prime Timers, and the Red Hat Ladies.

She is survived by one son, Dennis F. Bond and wife, Linda, of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Dr. Dennis F. Bond, II and wife, Dawn, of Edmond, Douglas W. Bond and wife, Sandy, of Tulsa, and Kristin R. Bond, of Texas; great-grandchildren, Dennis F.  Bond, III (Trey), Alexandria Rose Bond, Daniel C. Bond, Matthew T. Bond, Evan Alexander Bond and Abby G. Watson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Abe Abrams.

Active pallbearers will be, Lt. Col. Dr. Dennis F. Bond, II, Douglas W. Bond, Dennis F. Bond, III, Bill Lyons, Jeremy Bennet and Hal Johnson.
