Leona Gardia Ross, 91, of Haileyville

McALESTER — Leona Gardia Ross, 91, of Haileyville, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Hung Viet Le officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Born Aug. 17, 1921, in Hartshorne, she was the daughter of Steve and Ida (Westfall) Alexander. She grew up and had lived in Haileyville virtually all her life. She married Johnny Dominic “Butch” Ross on April 15, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1990.

She had worked as a seamstress at Seamprufe then worked at North American Rockwell for a number of years until her retirement.

She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne. When she was young, she loved to go dancing and, in her later years, she enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Judy Ross, of Catoosa; one daughter, Patricia Tinker, of McAlester, and her partner, Jim Roberson; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Nick Ceppaglia, Fresno, Calif..

Also, grandchildren, Johnny Ross, of Owasso, Carolyn Kirk and her husband, Chris, Frisco, Texas, Steven Ross and his wife, Daphne, Jacksonville, Fla., Samra Miller and her husband, Vaughn, of Hitchita, Patrick Tinker and his wife, Chris, of McAlester, and Brandi Tinker, Phoenix, Ariz.

And, great-grandchildren, Ricky and Kevin Ross, of Owasso, Chelsea Ross, of Edmond, Spencer and Colin Miller, of Hitchita, Summer Tinker, of McAlester, and Conner, Camille, Casey and Keaton Kirk, Frisco, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter; three sisters and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
