McALESTER —
Yvonne Rosso, 85, of McAlester, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at a local nursing home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born May 3, 1927, in McAlester, she was the daughter of James and Ruth Baker Greer. She attended schools in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School.
She married James A. Rosso on June 22, 1948, in McAlester. They moved to Atlanta, Ga. and lived there while her husband finished his degree in engineering from Georgia Tech. Upon his graduation, they moved to Kansas City, Mo., where her husband worked for Hallmark. She then followed her husband to Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked for Boeing.
In 1952 they moved to McAlester.
She was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James A. Jr. and Pam Rosso, McKinney, Texas, Steve and Carol Rosso, of McAlester, and Jeff and Yvette Rosso, Fairview, Texas; a sister, Patsy McCord, of Bartlesville.
Also, seven grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Bronson Elliott, McKinney, Texas, Tricia and Jeremy McCurley, of Bixby, Leslie and Matt Gruber, McKinney, Texas, Matt and Jamie McAlester, of Noble, John Rosso, Frisco, Texas, Katie Rosso, Fairview, Texas, and Paul Rosso, Fairview, Texas, and six great-grandchildren, Emily Elliott, Hannah Elliott, Hope McCurley, Noah McCurley, Garrett McAlester and Hayden McAlester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Rosso Sr.; a daughter, Cathy McAlester; a sister, Doris Morrison; a brother, Jim Greer, and a brother-in-law, Jack McCord.
Pallbearers will be Bronson Elliott, Jeremy McCurley, Matt Gruber, Matt McAlester, John Rosso and Paul Rosso.
