Billye Jo Flood, 68, of McAlester

McALESTER — Billye Jo Flood, 68, of McAlester, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Jan. 23, 1945, in McAlester, she was the daughter of William and Annie Jo (Richards) Dawson. She grew up and received her education in McAlester, graduating with the senior class of 1963.

Upon graduation, she furthered her education by attending Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. In 1964 she married Elven Flood.

She had worked for Oklahoma Theatre and National Bank before securing a long career with the Arkla Gas Company. In 2000 she retired from Arkla, where she had served as a customer service specialist.

She loved her daughter and spending time together. She also enjoyed music, flowers, driving in the country, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Gary Cooper movies and anything chocolate.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacy Flood, of McAlester; brother, Neil Dawson and his wife, Sandy, of Haileyville; nephews, Mike Dawson and wife, Tara, and family, of Haileyville, and David Dawson and wife, Vanessa, and family, from Haileyville.

Also, cousins, Anita Tharp and husband, Mike, and family, of Katy, Texas, John Anthony Richards and wife, Nancy, and family, of Springfield, Va., and Debbie Anderson and husband, Steve, and family, of Perrysburg, Mich., and special friends, Joan Harris, o fLyman, Mass., Jan Graves, of Tulsa, Merline Planer, of Tulsa, Grady Stone, of Saginaw, Texas, George Crawford, o fAmelia, Ohio, Ruben Rendon, of Fremont, Ohio, and Ed McDougal, of Heritage, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Jo Dawson; grandmother, Annie C. Richards, and great-aunts, Ruth Sartor and Aran Priddy.
