McALESTER —
Anthony Buell Painter, 97, of McAlester, died Oct. 26, 2012, at his home.
The rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Today at Bishop Chapel of Memories led by Rev. Leonard Higgins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Leonard Higgins will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
Buell was born to Kate and Anthony Painter on August 15, 1915, and grew up in the McAlester area.
He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1936 and attended business school in Norman. He married Ann Bernardi on November 11, 1939.
After their first son, Michael, was born the family moved to Portland, Oregon where Buell worked in the shipyard and later served in the military during World War II.
He began his dry cleaning career at Troy Cleaners and later co-owned and operated 75 Cleaners for over 25 years.
He and his wife raised five children and he was a life- long member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his son, Michael Painter, of Valrico, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Emmett Maylone, of Copperas Cove, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kathy Painter, of The Woodlands, Texas; daughters, Cecilia Kennedy, of Edmond, and Mary Greene of McAlester; grandchildren, Anne Maylone, Jonathan and wife, Kim Kennedy, Allison and husband, Blake LeCluyse, Cody Greene, Carson Painter and Kaitlyn Painter; great Grandchildren, Colby and Kaden Greene, Harper and Sloane LeCluyse, and Luke, Mark, and Madelyn Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his parents,; four sisters, three brothers, and two infant grandchildren, Montana Greene and Nathan Painter.
Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Kennedy, Luke Kennedy, Mark Kennedy, Carson Painter, Cody Greene and Blake LeCluyse.
