Eric Dewayne Brown, 40, of McAlester

McALESTER — Eric Dewayne Brown, 40, of McAlester, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at East Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Washington officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Nov. 18, 1972, in Greensburg, Kan., he was the son of Melvin Lon Brown Sr. and Minnie (Henderson) Brown. He was raised by Arenzy and Hattie Brown, along with his aunties and uncles.

Upon his high school graduation, he joined the United States Army and served his country for more than five years.

He was an avid Oklahoma University football fan and enjoyed fishing.  

Survivors include his father, Melvin Brown; mother, Minnie Taylor and husband, Lemuel; brothers, Lon Brown, Brandon Taylor, Thomous Taylor, and stepbrother, Ricky Taylor; sister, Deidre Brown, and stepsisters, Shari Taylor and Doris Blackley; his “special children,” Trent Smith, Kai-el Shelton and Kristin Shelton, and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.  

He was preceded in death by Arenzy and Hattie Brown; brother, Ramon Brown, and cousin, Evette Curtis.  

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thomas, Brandon Mace, James Goodson, Virgie Jefferson, Chad Goodner and Josheb English.  

Honorary pallbearers will be Andre Linzie, Charles Terry, Terrill Buie, James Campbell, Jarron Cherry, David Brown and Don Brown Jr.
