McALESTER — Rosa Cathrin Pigman, 104, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, in Raton, N.M.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jones-Harkins Chapel. Burial will be at Lutie Cemetery in Wilburton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton.

Born Aug. 1, 1907, in Greer County, Oklahoma Territory, she was the daughter of John B. Clark Norman and Selena Slagle Norman. She married  Roy Lee Pigman on Dec. 18, 1925, in Wilburton, where she lived for 83 years. Her husband preceded her in death when she was 76. She lived on Blair for many years until she moved to Main Street where she kept an award winning garden. She lived on her own until the age of 101, when she moved to Cimarron, N.M., so her granddaughter could take care of her.

Her love of the outdoors was evident in the joy she took in flowers and wildlife. If she saw a flower she smelled it, and if she saw a weed she pulled it. Even into her 100s, she often spotted a wild turkey or fox quicker than anyone else and pointed it out to them. Wherever she went she became a celebrity for her age, but soon became beloved for her nature.

Survivors include her sister, Margaret Andrews, of Wilburton; grandchildren, Cleta and Alton Miller, of Cimarron, Donna and Larry Holst, of Black Lake, N.M., and Dane and Shari Pigman, of Florida.

Also, six great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Anita Pigman, of Buckeye, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her only child, Louie Leon Pigman; six brothers and two sisters.
