McALESTER — Alice May Dunn, 83, of Tehachapi, Calif., passed away January 21, 2013, at home, where she lived for 64 years.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, at 1 p.m., at Wood Family Funeral Service, 321 W. F St., Tehachapi, California.

Alice was born January 3, 1930, in Missouri to Evelyn and William Chancellor. Her father died when she was 3 years-old in the coal mines in Arkansas.

Her mother married Leonard Darby in Wilburton, in 1934.

Alice married Richard Warren Dunn on June 9, 1946, in McAlester. They had a son, Kenneth Ray Dunn, and daughter, Linda Kay Dunn LaVerne.

She raised her children in Tehachapi, California, and worked for over 30 years in the food service business as a waitress at Tehachapi Bowling Alley Café.

She didn’t know a stranger, greeted all who entered with a smile, and made many friends during her life there. She was well liked by many and loved very much by her family. She was a blessing to all who had the honor to know her. She enjoyed all of her six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and she will be graetlu missed by them.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Linda Dunn LaVerne; daughter-in-law, Ruth Dunn; brother, Roy Darby; sisters, Kathleen Darby Lowe, Loretta Darby Knapp, Imogene Darby Peck, Connie Darby Owen, Bonnie Darby Rider, and Delores Darby Pinkerton.

Alice was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Darby; husband, Richard Dunn; son, Ken Dunn; and stepdad, Leonard Darby.
