McALESTER —

Gladys Evelyn Jones, 87, of McAlester, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at a local nursing center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Davis officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Prague Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Oct. 15, 1925, in Stroud, she was the daughter of Evert Lee and Ella Evelyn (Starrett) Bond. She was raised in the Stroud and Prague areas and attended a small school in Stroud.

She married Otis Walter Jones on Jan. 2, 1946, in Chandler. They lived in Cromwell before moving to McAlester in 1995, to be near their family.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing for family. Her greatest joy was taking care of others.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Debbie Jones, of McAlester; granddaughter, Jennifer Jones, of South Carolina; grandson, Michael Jones, of New York, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis Jones; three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Brad Green, Greg Holliman, William Watkins, Kenley Smith, Mike Sennett and Michael Jones.
