Ruthie Mae “Moonae” McNeely, 79, of McAlester

McALESTER — Ruthie Mae “Moonae” McNeely, 79, of McAlester, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in McAlester.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Triumph Baptist Church in McAlester. Burial will be at North Town Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Sept. 7, 1933, in Vivian, Texas, she was the daughter of Ruth Earlene Garrett Rushing and Daniel Rushing. The family moved to McAlester in 1942.

She accepted Christ at a very young age. She was a graduate of L’Ouverture High School, Class of 1951.

Years later, she moved her family to Tulsa in 1962. She was an excellent cook. She held a variety of jobs in Tulsa. She received her ministry license in 2006.

For the past nine and one half years, she had struggled with diabetes and congestive heart failure.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda and Andy Smith, Alice and Michael Smith and Sandra Rushing, all of Tulsa, and Teresa and Kevin Beasley, of Oklahoma City; two sons, Charles and Cynthia Rushing and Edward and Jackie Rushing, both of Tulsa.

Also, four sisters, Elnoria Richardson, Kansas City, Mo., Mary Rushing and Janice R. Matthews, of McAlester, and Audrey Rushing, of Tulsa, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded her in death by her parents, Ruth and Daniel Rushing; husband, Early McNeely; son, Tony Rushing; grandson, Marquis Wright; one brother, Charles “Bo” Rushing; sisters, Dansy Rushing, Eunita Factory, Clarice Rushing and Bessie Johnson, and niece, Billie Factory Brown.
