McALESTER — Levie ‘Cuz’ ‘Pappy’ Jackson, 92, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at a nursing center in Poteau.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at North Town Cemetery in McAlester with Elder Willie Drumgo officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
He was born in Coles Chapel. He was self-employed as a construction worker, plowing gardens, pulling cross ties, training mules and horses, cutting and delivering firewood and training dogs.
Before moving to Oklahoma, he met and married Susie Walker Brown, of Detroit, Mich., and they had seven children. She preceded him in death in 2011.
After moving to Oklahoma, he met a lifelong friend, Betty June Ware, who also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Willie “ Frank” Brown, Johnny Brown, Cynthia Brown, Carolyn Brown, Mary Brown and David Brown, all of Detroit.
Also, cousins, Helen “Ruth” Jackson, Verritta “Rita” Hendrix, Rosetta, Natasha, Sonya and Larry Brown, Mozella Chism and Ann Walker, of McAlester, Josie Oulds, of Bartlesville, Cleon Brown Sr. and Willie L. Manning, of Kansas City, Mo.; friends, Jordan and Mable Austin, of McAlester, and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, the Rev. Isaac Jackson and Leola (Mosley-Rogers) Jackson; four brothers and one sister.
