Lake Ed Wilson Jr. dies at 84

Lake Ed Wilson Jr., 84, of McAlester, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with the Rev. Jody Domingue officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Oct. 16, 1928, in Indianola, he was the son of Lake Sr. and Myrtle (York) Wilson. He had lived in Pittsburg County all of his life. He married Imogene Barringer on Dec. 16, 1950, in Fort Chaffee, Ark.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 79 of McAlester. He was one of the first 14 people from Pittsburg County drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War.

After his discharge from active duty, he served in the 95th Division of the Army Reserve in McAlester for 31 years without missing a drill. He received an Army Occupation Medal of Germany and Army Commendation Medal.

He was a councilman for the City of McAlester in 1977. He was on the McAlester Planning Committee for four years.

He worked 30 years for Rockwell International and retired from there in 1992. He was a member of the Pittsburg County Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) No. 1867.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Wilson, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Alice Wilson, of Oklahoma City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frankie and Jim Bowden, of Choctaw, and Dottie and Buddy Lacey, of McAlester; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Glenna Wilson, Dallas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Lacey, Frank Cuzalina, Allen Nixon, Jim Bowden and Lem Hodges.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Johnson and James Johnson.
