Myrtle McGee dies at 88

McALESTER — Myrtle McGee, 88, of McAlester, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in Muskogee.

Visitation will be held for family and friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Keith Stanford will officiate. Interment will Oak Hill Cemetery McAlester.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Myrtle was born Oct. 22, 1924, near Broken Bow at Bengal. She was one of seven children born to Walter and Alma (Smith) Duggan. She was married to Elmer Don McGee on Dec. 25, 1946, at Fort Smith, Ark. She resided in Wilburton for a time after marriage before she and her family moved to McAlester in 1952. She was a home maker and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of McAlester.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Crawley, of McAlester; two sons, Daniel McGee and wife, Mary, of McAlester, Kenneth McGee and wife, Karen, of McAlester; two brothers, Cecil Duggan and wife, Peggy, of Prague, Jerry Duggan and wife, Retha, of Hinton; sister, Lavern Bailey and husband, Monroe, of Collinsville; daughter-in-law, Kim McGee of Krebs; eight grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer McGee, on Jan. 28, 1986; son, Jim McGee; brothers, Hoyt, Curtis and Bill Duggan.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ray Crawley, David Crawley, Eric McGee, Tristan McGee, Cody Golla, Adam Newman, Cameron Fields and Kevin Waldron.
