McALESTER —
Jimmy W. Nichols, 72, of the Bugtussle Community, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Family and friends visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brumley-Mills Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Richville Baptist Church with David Stanfield officiating. Graveside services will be Monday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Sept. 27, 1940, in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Jim and Evelyn (Webster) Nichols. He was raised and received his education in Santa Maria, Calif., coming to McAlester as a teenager.
He worked for many years in the oilfields and for a time at Oklahoma State Penitentiary.
He served one enlistment in the United States Army from Nov. 18, 1960, to Oct. 30, 1962.
He was a member of Richville Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098 of McAlester.
Survivors include two daughters, Annette and husband, Richard Stubblefield, Charleston, Ark., and Threasa Nichols Smith, of McAlester; two granddaughters, Amy and Devlan Maxwell, of Mustang, and Alexis Stubblefield, Alma, Ark., and five great-grandchildren, Makala, Madison and Gavin Maxwell, Regan Stubblefield and Camryn Ruston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Evelyn Nichols; one sister, Bette Chancellor, and one brother, Earl Lee Nichols.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Perry, Duane Frye, Sherman Stockton, Jeremy Lally, Willie Fairies and Rick Dooly
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Giaudrone, Vernice Jones, Luther, Carr and David Santine.
Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
