Elmer Monroe Boggs, 98, of Savanna, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at home.
Family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Service. Services were today at 10 a.m. at the Savanna Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Max Boggs officiating. Interment followed at Savanna Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
He was born to John Franklin and Molly Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Hughey) Boggs on Jan. 1, 1914, between Caney and Tushka. He married Flossie May Henson Nov. 4, 1939, in Kiowa. They were married for 68 years.
He worked as a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed clearing and cutting wood on his land. He was a member of Savanna Assembly of God Church since 1930.
Survivors include sons, Roy Joe Boggs, of San Angelo, Texas, David Boggs and wife, Judy, of Skiatook, Dale Boggs and wife, Dolores, of Savanna, and Max Boggs and wife, Linda, of Savanna; grandsons, Lonnie Boggs, Jonathan Boggs, Loren Boggs, Paul Boggs, Steven Boggs and Tim Boggs; granddaughters, Tami Ballard, Angela Farias, Amy Perez, Karen Vallelonga, Jennifer Boggs and Stephanie Gonzalez; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-grea- grandchildren; brother, Claude Boggs, of Globe, Ariz.; brothers-in-law, DeWayne Henson, of McAlester, Johnny Henson and wife, Irene, of Olathe, Kan.; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, John and Lizzy Boggs; and his wife, Flossie May Boggs, Dec. 2, 2007.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Boggs, Jonathan Boggs, Paul Boggs, Loren Boggs, Steven Boggs and Tim Boggs.
