C.J. Maisano

McALESTER — C.J. Maisano, 89, of McAlester, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by Dr. Tim Russell.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Born March 6, 1923, in Krebs, he was the son of Joe and Paulina Maisano. He attended McAlester High School and graduated with the Class of 1941. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII in Europe and the Pacific Theatre with the 86th Infantry Division, Quartermaster Co. as a T/4 Sgt. He married Juanita Lott on January 18, 1947 and they made McAlester their home.

He worked for International Harvester Company and the Buick Company as a mechanic. He and his brother, Tony, established their own garage in Krebs from 1953 until his retirement, in 1997.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McAlester and served as a deacon and he was also a member of the Adult Men’s Bible Class. His enjoyed his family and his church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita, of the home; daughters, Linda Cantrell and husband, Mike, of Ada and Connie Wallace and husband, Mike, of Pauls Valley; grandchildren: Carrie Bishop, of Houston, Texas, Brent Campbell and wife, Jackie, of Blanchard, Somerlyn Cothran and husband, Kassie, of Ada, and Blake Cantrell and wife, Melissa, of Ada; great-grandchildren, Emily Bishop, Jackson Bishop, Ethan Campbell, Matthew Campbell and Kaydence Cothran;brother, Sam Maisano and wife, Eilene, of California; sisters, Rose Parise, of Akron, Ohio, and Jeannie DeVinney, of Springdale, Ark.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Paulina Maisano; brothers, Frank, Tony, Thommy, and Paul Maisano; and sisters, Nancy Hilt and Mary Maisano.

Pallbearers will be, Brent Campbell, Blake Cantrell, Kassie Cothran, Rickie Parise, Mike Hulin, Rusty Hulin, Dennis Owens and Roger Lott.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult 1 Department Sunday School Class and Maria Robb.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of McAlester, 801 Wyandotte Ave., McAlester, OK 74501 or a favorite charity.
