EDMOND — No matter how it ends, the last game of the season is always the saddest day in a football player's year.
By upsetting the Deer Creek Antlers, the McAlester Buffaloes put that anguish off for at least one more week.
Caden Pratt threw for three touchdowns, rushed for a fourth and blocked a key extra point to help his team to a 35-27 win in the Class 5A quarter-finals on Friday at Deer Creek Stadium in Edmond.
McAlester will be on the road again next Friday, facing East Central in Muskogee in the state semi-finals.
