Lady Hornets edge Lady Panthers in District Finals thriller

STUART — The Stuart Lady Hornets and Porum Lady Panthers clashed nonstop for 48 minutes Saturday, mixing high-energy defense with patient, well-executed offense.

In the end, the Lady Hornets wanted it just a little bit more.

Stuart sophomore Emilee Beck knocked down four key fourth-quarter free throws, helping the Lady Hornets hold on to beat the Lady Panthers,

54-50, in the Area IV District 7 Final at Howard Lasiter Gymnasium in Stuart.

With the win, Stuart improved to 13-13. It’ll play Dewar in the regional semi-finals at Moss on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
