McALESTER — With a 52-32 record, Grease Lightning still leads the Tuesday Powder Puff League at Great Balls of Fire in McAlester.
After facing second-ranked team Oops in Week 21, however, Grease Lightning’s place in the standings looks far shakier than it did week ago.
Oops beat Grease Lightning, 3-1, on Tuesday, closing the gap between first and second to just one point. And with Oops holding a higher total score this season, the trio of Verna Dean Ketchum, Marilyn Arbaugh and CeCe Clark would have the tiebreaker.
Oops will take on the third-ranked Pink Ladies this Tuesday, while Grease Lightning will get the fourth-place Happy Rollers. Nearly 10 points separate second and third in this league, so unless the Pink Ladies or Happy Rollers make a big push this week, this league appears to be a two-team race.
