McALESTER —
McAlester head football coach Bryan Pratt has been a friend and mentor as well as a coach to one NFL player who played Sunday in the Super Bowl, and Pratt was there watching the game.
That player is New England Patriot Malcolm Williams, who was on the field Sunday for kickoff for the Pats. Williams was a player on the South Grant Prairie team for which Pratt was an assistant coach and coordinator when he was hired to come to McAlester as the head coach.
Williams had been the defensive player of the year in Texas. However, he was unable to immediately start college football and came to McAlester with Pratt during the coach’s first season at McAlester and was a regular sight around the McAlester football program.
