McALESTER — Both Stuart and Kiowa have their sites set much, much higher than the Class A District Tournaments, and they played as such over the weekend. The Stuart Lady Hornets edged the Porum Lady Panthers at home on Saturday, 54-50, and the Hornets followed with an impressive 81-44 win over the Panthers.
The newly crowned district-champion Lady Hornets will next play Dewar on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Moss in Holdenville. The Hornets will play host-team Moss on Thursday at 8 p.m.
Kiowa’s postseason, meanwhile, began Saturday with a commanding 76-36 win by the Cowgirls against Cameron. The Cowboys followed by beating Cameron’s boys’ team, 71-45.
Kiowa will host one of the two Class A winners’ bracket tournaments, which begins on Thursday. The Cowgirls will play Boswell at 6:30 p.m., and the Cowboys will play Boswell at 8 p.m.
