McALESTER — Three times the McAlester Buffaloes faced strong passing team. Three times they fell short, their young secondary victimized by big plays.
Not this time. This time, the secondary made the big plays, and the rest of the Buffaloes made big plays behind them.
McAlester defensive back Mason Bumphus stripped Noble receiver Devin Wheeler following a reception and returned it for a second-quarter touchdown, and running back Jarome Smith scored four touchdowns. The Buffaloes purged three weeks of bad feelings with a 70-42 blowout victory over the Bears at Homecoming on Friday Night at Hook Eales Stadium.
