Lane Knight does it all

WILBURTON — Senior Lane Knight starts at quarterback for the Wilburton Diggers. He also plays strong safety, and shortstop in the spring baseball season.

Knight also sings, acts and plays piano. And he does all of this while handling a schedule that’s been loaded with advanced placement courses since he was a freshman.

With all of these demands on his time, Knight could be forgiven for not devoting as much energy to any one activity. But at least as far as football goes, Wilburton coach Brian Kirkhart said that’s far from the case.

“His strength is running the ball, and when he runs, he runs with so much heart and desire, and he runs so hard,” Kirkhart said Friday. “It’s a joy as a coach to watch him.”
