McALESTER — • McAlester varsity softball hosts a three-way mini-tournament with Savanna and Skiatook, starting at 3:45 p.m.

• McAlester volleyball heads to Tulsa East Central for ninth-grade, JV and varsity matches, starting at 4 p.m.

• McAlester Jr. Buff softball plays at Wilburton, 4:30 p.m.

• The Puterbaugh junior high football team kicks off its season with a home game against. Poteau at 5 p.m.

• Canadian softball hosts Haileyville, junior high and high school, 4 p.m.

• Savanna football (1-0) continues its season on the road against Beggs JV, 7:30 p.m.

• Quinton fast-pitch softball begins its run through the Tushka Tournament

• Kiowa baseball team heads to the Stuart Tournament, while its softball team hosts a tournament of its own

    Eastern Oklahoma State College will host the 41st annual Kiamichi All-Star Classic sports competition Saturday in Wilburton. Area high school players will compete for either the North or South teams in softball, baseball and basketball.

    McAlester United wrapped up its spring 2013 season Saturday, with several of its teams competing at a coed soccer tournament in Eufaula. McAlester’s under-12 teams took first and second at Eufaula, and its U-8 girls’ took second.

    Fighting between the North and South All-Star teams forced the 29th annual Lake Eufaula Classic to end without a winner with 6:41 left in the third quarter. The South had been leading when the game ended, 12-10.
