Pitt 8 Conference Tournament, Day 5

Cowboys and Lady Panthers finish third

McALESTER — With the conclusion of Friday's games at the Southeast Expo Center in McAlester, two teams earned third-place honors at the Pitt 8 Conference Tournament, and two more filled the remaining spots in Saturday's consolation finals!

The Crowder Demonettes began the day by overcoming an 8-point deficit in the final minutes of their consolation semi-final game against the Indianola Warriorettes, winning 47-45 on a buzzer-beating layup by Zoey Carter. Crowder will face the Stuart Lady Hornets in Saturday's consolation final at 12 p.m.

The Haileyville Warriors also earned a trip to their consolation final, beating the Pittsburg Panthers in the semi-finals, 54-40. Haileyville will square off with Crowder in the consolation finals on Saturday at 1:20 p.m.

In the girls third-place game, the Pittsburg Lady Panthers led the Canadian Lady Cougars buzzer to buzzer, ultimately winning 45-36. And the Kiowa Cowboys survived a late rally from the Savanna Bulldogs to win the boys' third place game, 53-45.

Kiowa will face Savanna in the girls' championship on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and Stuart will face Canadian in the boys' championship on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
