QUINTON — Caleb Hays grew up with football. He watched the Oklahoma Sooners on TV, and he watched the Keota Lions every Friday night.
“I always looked up to the high school players and players older than me, and I wanted to be that,” Hays said Friday. “I wanted people to look up to me, want to be like me, and be a leader.”
Hays began playing football in the second grade in Keota, moving to Quinton before his freshman year. The move has worked out well for Hays, now a junior, who as a middle linebacker has become the Savages’ leading tackler.
