ATOKA — An inside-the-park home run requires a hitter with both power and speed, a well-hit ball that lands far from any outfielder, and usually a little luck as well. It may very well be the hardest way to score in baseball or softball.
Against the McAlester Jr. Buffs softball team, the Cottonwood Panthers hit two.
Cottonwood scored eight runs in the bottom of the second, including four on an inside-the-park grand slam from pitcher Alexis Lambert, powering them to a 13-3 run-rule victory over McAlester in four innings Thursday afternoon at Atoka Ballpark.
