McALESTER — McAlester senior Heather Brozovich grew up in a basketball family. Both her parents played basketball in Steamboat Springs, Colo., and her older sister Holly played guard for the Hartshorne Lady Miners.
Playing basketball since the fourth grade, Heather Brozovich played guard through her sophomore year at Lakewood Christian. In the Lady Lions’ state championship game that sophomore year, Brozovich’s layup-free throw combination sent the game into overtime.
When Brozovich joined coach April Burns and teammates Meredith Saunier and Maddie McGowan in the move from Lakewood Christian to McAlester High School before last season, however, Brozovich became a forward.
“Coach Burns needed someone to guard the posts, and she knew I’d work hard at it,” Brozovich said on Saturday.
