HARTSHORNE — It took a few innings for the Stuart softball team to find itself. Errors, passed balls, wild pitches — poor defense took the Lady Hornets out of their hitting game.
As soon as Stuart regained its footing, it regained its hitting, and Hartshorne High School paid the price.
The Lady Hornets sent 24 to the plate in the fifth and sixth inning, plating 13 runs to beat the still-winless Miners 17-8 Tuesday afternoon at Ruth & Vernon Hodge Field in Hartshorne. Stuart junior right fielder Kylie Jerniger went 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
