    Justus Sheffield is the first Tennessee player to ever play in three consecutive Jr. Sunbelt Classic baseball tournaments. His 2011 and 2012 squads went undefeated and won back-to-back championships, while his 2013 squad finished fourth.

    Hartshorne junior Brett Akins pitched a complete-game two-hitter, striking out seven and leading Hartshorne to a 5-0 win against McAlester at the Coal Mining Summer Festival at Clark & Wanda Bass Field in Hartshorne.

    Texas starter Aaron Fletcher limited Tennessee to one run on four hits, and Texas’ offense belted out three home runs to run-rule Tennessee in the third-place game of the 2013 Jr. Sunbelt Championship at Mike Deak Field in McAlester, 5-3 in five innings.

    Arizona beat Colorado in Wednesday's championship, 5-2, for the state's first Jr. Sunbelt Classic title since 2008. Having joined the Sunbelt in 2009, Colorado had never qualified for the finals before this year.
