Main Street hires new Executive Director

By MJ Brickey Staff Writer

McALESTER — McAlester’s Main Street organization has hired a new executive director.

The board of McAlester Main Street hired Virginia “Ginny” Webb, recently, as executive director for the organization.

McAlester Main Street is a part of the national Main Street organization, she said.

“The city (of McAlester) is our partner and provides the majority of our funding,” Webb said. “But, we are a separate nonprofit organization.”

Webb said Main Street is geared to reinvest in the nations traditional downtown districts by preserving and restoring them.

She said to McAlester benefit and uniquely McAlester has not only one downtown district, but two including Old Town, also known as Northtown.

    McAlester High School Cheer, McAlester Main Street and the Red Cross have partnered to launch a donation drive for victims of the tornadoes that struck across Oklahoma on Monday. The drive begins today and continues tomorrow.
