The following construction projects will impact travel on major highways from Friday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 6. Motorists should expect delays in these areas, weather permitting, and allow additional travel time. Local
• US 69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at US 266 in Checotah for ramp reconstruction.
• North and southbound US 69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at the Indian Nation turnpike interchange for pavement rehabilitation. The southbound US 69 off-ramp to southbound turnpike and the northbound turnpike off-ramp to southbound US 69 are both currently closed and signed detours are as follows:
• From southbound US 69 to southbound turnpike, drivers will continue south on US 69 for two miles exiting at the Army Ammunition interchange, crossing over the bridge, returning northbound on US 69 then taking the southbound turnpike exit.
• From northbound turnpike to southbound US 69: drivers will continue northbound for approximately seven miles and then exit US 270 (exit 70) eastbound, traveling through town about five miles then exit southbound US 69.
• North and southbound US 69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction just south of the US 70 interchange south of Durant for new construction.
• US 271 is narrowed to one lane at the Mud & Dry Creek bridges near Tuskahoma. A signal light is directing traffic. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time in this area and use caution when approaching the signal light.
Tulsa Metro
• All lanes of northbound US 75 will be closed at the I-44 junction from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday as part of a bridge deck project. All northbound US 75 traffic will be routed to the eastbound I-44 exit.
The highway detour will follow eastbound I-44 to the SH-51 (Broken Arrow Expressway) junction, where drivers can either take westbound SH 51 or loop back to westbound I-44 for access to northbound US 75. Congestion should be expected, and alternate routes located, if possible.
The left lane of southbound US 75 remains closed until further notice as part of this project.
• All lanes of eastbound I-244 are closed on the west and north legs of the Inner Dispersal Loop until early 2011. Expect delays and plan for extra travel time in this area as traffic adjusts to these changes. The south and east legs of the IDL are the primary detour routes around the closures.
The following ramps are closed until further notice:
• Eastbound I-244 on and off-ramps at Cincinnati/Detroit (north leg IDL)
• North and southbound US 75 ramps to eastbound I-244 (SW corner IDL)
• The southbound Tisdale Parkway off-ramp to westbound US 412/US 64/SH 51
• The two left lanes of northbound US 75 approaching the southwest corner of the IDL.
Oklahoma City Metro
• Drivers can expect construction on east and westbound I-40 in El Reno between mm 128 and 136. Lanes are open, but the speed limit is reduced to 60 mph in the work zone.
Statewide
• I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-11 near Blackwell and US-177 near Braman in Kay Co. for resurfacing.
• Northbound I-35 is narrowed to one lane between US-60 near Tonkawa and State Highway 11near Blackwell in Kay Co. for surface repairs.
• Northbound US Highway 81 is narrowed to one lane in Kingfisher, Hennessey and Bison for resurfacing and sidewalk work.
• I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between State Highway 19 near Pauls Valley and State Highway 29 near Wynnewood for resurfacing. Expect significant delays and consider an alternate route such as US 77.
• I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction in Ardmore between US 70 West (Waurika) and US 70 East (Madill) for resurfacing. The northbound I-35 on and off-ramps to US 70 East are closed. Use SH 199 as an alternate route.
• I-44 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Gore Blvd. and Rogers Lane for resurfacing. Additionally, northbound I-44 on and off-ramps at Cache Road are closed.
• I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near Erick at mile marker 1 for resurfacing.
• I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near the SH 152 exit, at mile marker 25 and mile marker 23) near Sayre for resurfacing.
• I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between US 64 near Warner and the Arkansas River (through Muskogee Co.) for resurfacing.
• Eastbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane near the Arkansas state line, at mile marker 325) for resurfacing.
• SH 51 is narrowed to one lane in each direction east of Coweta in Wagoner Co. for bridge work.
