McAlester man accused of making meth

McALESTER — A McAlester man was recently accused of making methamphetamine in a home in the 1200 block of East Polk Avenue in McAlester.

Luke Austin Homer, 32, was charged Monday in Pittsburg County District Court with manufacture of a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) and maintaining a place for keeping / selling controlled substances.

According to court records, authorities were informed of a strong chemical odor allegedly coming from the East Polk Avenue home on Sept. 28. When police went to investigate, they too smelled the “strong chemical odor,” a police affidavit states.

District 18 Narcotics Task Force agents and McAlester police officers approached the residence and detained Homer, the homeowner. “Homer denied access to the residence,” the affidavit states.

Police were able to secure a search warrant, signed by Pittsburg County Associate District Judge James Bland. When they searched the residence, police found numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

If convicted, he is facing up to life imprisonment.
