McALESTER —
A Coalgate man was killed Friday night when the SUV he was driving ran off of a U.S. Highway 69 on-ramp and rolled.
Thomas Cosper, 81, was pronounced dead of massive injuries at McAlester Regional Health Center following the 9:36 p.m. accident, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Injured in the crash was his passenger, Ruby Hoskinson, 86, of Allen. She was listed in critical condition at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, OHP reported.
An accident report filed by trooper Garret Gray of the Pittsburg County detachment of OHP indicates Cosper was westbound on State Highway 9A when the wreck happened. The vehicle ran off the right side of the highway’s on-ramp to U.S. Highway 69 south, then rolled two and a half times before coming to rest on its roof.
