McALESTER —
Beginning Sept. 15, McAlester residents may sign up to participate in McAlester's first ever “McAlester Annual Garage Sale” to take place Oct. 6.
"You do not have to sign up, however, if you do not your address will not be added to the McAlester Annual Garage Sale Map," Kirby said.
To sign up you must pick up a form from the receptionist, located as you walk in the main entrance, at the McAlester City Hall.
The map is to help people find your location with ease, she said.
“Purchasing a garage or yard sale permit will not be necessary only on this day,” Pamela Kirby, Human Resource Manager for the City of McAlester said. “Even if you have never had one before, now is the time for one.”
Kirby said this is a great time for cleaning up and getting rid of unwanted household items, and making money in the process.
All McAlester residents are allowed two garage or yard sale permits a year at $5 a piece, however, Kirby said, this city wide yard and garage sale will not count against that number and that you are able to still utilize your two yard and garage sale permits.
