A Red Oak woman has been injured in accident which occurred near Gowen.

Dorothy Blankenship, 76, was transported to the McAlester Regional Health Center by Hartshorne Emergency Services following the Sunday accident, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. She was reported in stable condition with trunk and internal injuries, the highway patrol said.

The accident occurred at 3:10 p.m. at U.S. Highway 270 and Gowen Road in Latimer County as Blankenship headed east on the highway in a 2007 Buick passenger car, an OHP spokesman said.

The car left the roadway on the south side and rolled one half-turn before coming to rest on top of a fence, the highway patrol said.

A seat belt was in use and the air bags deployed, according to the highway patrol.

OHP Trooper Jeremy Tolman investigated the accident.
