A one-vehicle accident has sent a Kiowa man to the hospital.
Beauford Ellis, 42, of Kiowa, was transported by the McAlester Fire Department to the McAlester Regional Health Center, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
He was later transported by medical helicopter to Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was listed in stable condition with a head injury, the highway patrol said.
The accident occurred at 11:26 p.m. on Friday on a county road 4.5 miles south of Savanna, according to the highway patrol.
Ellis was northbound in a 1997 Plymouth when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road to the north, striking a ditch. The Plymouth went airborne and struck a utility pole, the highway patrol said.
Trooper Jeremy Tolman of the Pittsburg County Detachment of Troop D Highway Patrol headquarters investigated the accident.
