McALESTER — The McAlester Watercooler blog is gone. Visitors to the site will find a notice “The Watercooler is dead.”
“The original intention was a blogsite requiring LESS support effort -- this site does not do that ... in fact its much more work than I was doing before,” these are the last words on the McAlester Watercooler site.
Hal King, 63, the owner of the now-defunct site said he began the blog as a connection point for others to work out issues,
“I wanted to help get people out of cliques and get them to work together,” he said. On site his King would post city council agendas and city councilman Steve Harrison’s newsletter on the site as well as links to popular news stories for subscribed bloggers to comment upon.
Overtime, King admits, the blog evolved into something much different than he intended.
