McALESTER —
A fatal accident claimed the lives of two local residents.
Cody Wayne Adams, 17, of McAlester, and Robert Douglas Robbins, 16, of Savanna were pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:10 a.m. Saturday accident.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Ford Mustang, driven by Adams on State Highway 1, one mile west of Allen, collided with a 1996 Freightliner.
According to the report, for an unknown reason the vehicle driven eastbound by Adams traveled left of center and continued driving down the incorrect side of the road.
The driver of the Freightliner semi-truck headed westbound took evasive action to the left. Adams then swerved back into the same lane and the vehicles collided in the eastbound lane.
Adams and Robbins were pinned for approximately two hours and were freed by Ada Fire and Rescue using a Hurst tool.
The driver of the Freightliner, Micheal Wayne Mosley, was transported by ambulance to Valley View Hospital in Ada with arm and trunk injuries but was not admitted.
Seatbelts were worn in both vehicles.
