Sheehy, Johnston tie the knot
Jayne Ann Sheehy and Garrett Thomas Johnston were united in marriage on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in the afternoon at St. Cecilia’s Church in Boston, Mass.
The bride is the daughter of Captain and Mrs. William Sheehy of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Annette Yetman and the late Mr. Donald Yetman, and Mrs. Betty Sheehy and the late Mr. William Sheehy of Hastings, Neb.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnston of McAlester. He is the grandson of Mrs. Donna Ely and the late Mr. Robert Ely, and Mrs. Lynette Johnston and the late Mr. Thomas Johnston of McAlester.
The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Father John Unni of Boston, Mass. Music was provided by Mark Donohoe, soloist; Richard Clark, organist; and Paul Perfetti, trumpeter. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at the State Room with entertainment provided by the band Unity, from Murray Hill Talent. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the Hampshire House.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a couture gown designed by Monique Lhuillier. The V-neck gown of white silk re-embroidered lace featured a fitted drop waist bodice with a satin ribbon, which tied around the line of the waist and was accented with a pearl and crystal brooch. The beautiful and full A-line tulle skirt fell into a soft pleated chapel train.
To complement the gown, she wore a matching veil and carried a bouquet of romantic cream, ivory and blush roses, sweet peas and ranunculus.
The bridal party wore full length Alvina Valenta chiffon dresses in blush that featured a halter neckline with pearl detail and an open back. They carried bouquets of pale roses with ranunculus.
Janice Rodriguez of New York, N. Y. served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids included Brooke Amaral of Newport Beach, Calif., Rayleen Hsu of San Francisco, Calif., Danielle Hasley Repp of Anaheim, Calif., and Michelle Kee Schutt of San Francisco, Calif.
The scripture readings were given by Christine Hradek of Des Moines, Iowa, and Christine Ely of Pittsburgh, Penn.
John Wadley of Oklahoma City served as best man. The groomsmen included Malcolm Levine of New York, N.Y., Gabriel Renfrow of Claremore, Mark Sheehy of Houston, Texas, and Neil Vibhakar of Chicago, Ill.
Ushers for the couple included Dr. David McDaniel of Atlanta, Ga., Zach Noorani of Boston, Mass., Jared Parker of New York, N.Y., Robert Pfeifer of Los Gatos, Calif., Scott Polley of New York, N.Y., and Robert Wellington of Boston, Mass.
Sheehy is a graduate of St. Patrick — St. Vincent High School in Benicia, Calif. and University of California at Davis where she received Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Economics and Sociology. She is a director in the New York University Langone Medical Center Finance Department, a member of the City of New York Junior League, and a member of the Manhattan Chapter of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association.
Johnston is a graduate of McAlester High School; Stanford University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science; and Boston College Law School where he received a Juris Doctorate degree. He will be employed as a corporate attorney with Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky & Popeo P.C. in New York City and is an alumnus of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Following a honeymoon to the Maldives, the couple now resides in New York City.
