Search on for Indianola man missing since Nov. 14

Nothing would make an Indianola couple happier than to have their missing adult son home for Thanksgiving.

Gary Arrington, 40, of Indianola, has been missing since the early morning hours of Nov. 14, according to his family and the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Department.

He works with his mother and father, Judy and Harold Arrington, at the Indianola Grocery and Tire Services in Indianola.

Gary Arrington had last been accounted for on Nov. 14 when leaving RCB’s Bar on Texanna Road in the Eufaula area in McIntosh County, his mother said.

“He left at 1:29 a.m. on Saturday morning,” said Judy Arrington. She said the sheriff’s department has looked at video surveillance and could see that “he left by himself in his pick-up.”

That is the last time that his family or law enforcement have been able to account for his presence.

“His cell phone has been ‘off’ since he left there,” Judy Arrington said. She said her son worked with the family at the Indianola Grocery and it’s completely out of character for him to be gone and not contact anyone in his family.

Both the Pittsburg and McIntosh County sheriff departments are involved in the case. Although Gary Arrington had last been accounted for in McIntosh County, the family filed a missing person report in Pittsburg County, where he lives.

Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Richard Bedford said Deputy Doy Sennett and Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns traveled to McIntsoh County to view the surveillance recording of Gary Arrington leaving RCB’s.

“They advised that he was not intoxicated when he left,” Bedford said. “He had drank a couple of beers throughout the evening and he appeared to be fine when he left.”

The cameras did not record which direction Gary Arrington headed after he left the site, according to Bedford.

Bedford said the missing man’s father told him that Gary Arrington was familiar with the back roads around Porum and knew how to get back to Indianola by a different route.

“We don’t know if he came back to our county or went through two other counties,” Bedford said.

He said the search for the missing man has included a search by air.

“We had the civil air patrol fly the area on Saturday.

“They didn’t find anything,” said Bedford.

The sheriff’s department would like hear from anyone with any information or who might have seen the pickup after Gary Arrington left RCB’s early on Nov. 14.

“We’re asking for anybody who saw the truck to let us know,” said Bedford.

Gary Arrington is described as six feet and one-inch tall, with short, dark, brown/blackish hair and brown eyes, and weighing 160 pounds.

His vehicle is described as a 2001 blue Ford Ranger extended cab pickup, with a license plate reading 462KKF, according to information from the family.

The pickup had a Red River auto dealer license plate on the front and a decal of a deer head with antlers on the back window.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Department at 423-5858.
