All-School reunion held for Savanna grads

The Savanna All School Reunion was held June 27 at the Pearl Dunn Cafetorium. There were 122 registered graduates, their spouses, teachers and guests in attendance.

President Jack Wood, class of 1968, introduced Joe Brown, class of 1963, who gave the welcome. Wood then discussed the need for fund raising and donations to replenish the scholarship fund. Brown told the group bricks were still for sale to be placed on the Pathway of Bricks. Wood recognized Connie Brodgen for her work on the decorations and the power point program, which included a slide show of various pictures of Savanna graduates. He also recognized Linda Reeder and Darlina Scroggins for their hard work.

Lunch line up was according to class year with Darlina Scroggins, Historian, taking pictures of each class starting with the oldest class to the youngest. Meeting resumed after lunch in which Wood gave the recognition of former teachers, guests and also thanked the ladies who prepared lunch.

Lynn Barlow, class of 1968, presented the Pearl Dunn Scholarship for $750.00 to Rebecca Cooper. The Joe Brown Leadership Award for $600.00 was presented to Jason Lee Caldwell. The first year of the Mildred Hodgens Scholarship of $750 was awarded to Daniel Langley. Vice-President Amanda Howard, class of 1969, gave the memorial for those who died in the past year. An election was held for Secretary, Johnny Cudd was nominated and unanimously approved. She later declined and Wood found volunteer Jeannie Holt, class of 1969, to accept the duties of Secretary.

The evening’s entertainment was provided and also donated by Billy Ray Buff, class of 1960. The next reunion will be on June 26, 2010.
